nu·cle·us | The central and most important part of an object, movement or group forming the basis for its activity and growth.

This project imagines a new central nucleus for the Austin Montessori School - an unusual campus that has grown overtime to acquire several houses in a residential neighborhood.  Continuing to use the typology of the existing school, pavilions have been layered throughout the campus.  A unique double wall system of mesh and glazing provides a sense of layered interiority that compliments the focus of Montessori teaching methods.

We began design with an investigation of a buildings public presence as an origin point rather than the result of numerous design processes.
